Sales Development Representative

We need an articulate, determined, high-energy, customer-focused individual who is passionate about building a career in sales and business development at a fast-growing, purpose-driven startup.

You’ll perform a vital role within our marketing team reaching out to outbound prospects – via emails, phone calls and conferences – and turn them into qualified opportunities for our sales executives.

This position develops and manages the crucial first stage of the sales funnel working in close collaboration with Marketing, and Sales Executives. Our SDR’s are often the initial contact with prospective customers and as such we need great representatives of the ecoPortal brand.

Your primary responsibility will be to target enterprise-level opportunities using a variety of outbound tools and techniques to set up demos and meetings for the Sales Executives. You will be using world-class Sales Engagement / CRM / Nurturing / Marketing Automation platforms to hit your goals.

Your ultimate goal: setup demos with qualified leads for the sales team. This will be done in several ways.

1) Prospecting & Nurturing existing contacts in the CRM.
2) Social media outreach.
3) Targeted outreach to enterprise-level accounts using email/phone
4) Attending industry conferences
5) Collaborating with the marketing team to run account-based marketing campaigns.

You’ll be responsible for managing our CRM database, taking clear and concise notes from your calls, planning outreach activities and follow up off the back of attending conferences. Your ability to adapt and be open to learning and getting coached is key to drive continuous improvement in sales engagement activities.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities:

• Drive a high volume of prospect outreach through phone, email and social media
• Qualify leads through the sales process into opportunities.
• Achieve weekly/monthly/quarterly goals.
• Leverage our sales development methodology and best practices.
• Manage, nurture and grow a pipeline of sales qualified prospects.
• Maintain and update records within HubSpot to reflect relevant research and activities.
• Follow-up on leads quickly and within designated timeframes.
• Work closely with Marketing to develop and execute campaigns.
• Work closely and collaboratively with Sales Executives to prospect and close potential clients.
• Using a comprehensive list of leads in CRM, you will prospect promising potential users, contact them by email and phone, and schedule qualified meetings for our sales executives who will close the sale.
• Ideal candidates will have competency with prospecting and sales engagement tools and techniques (HubSpot, Sales Navigator, Outreach).
• Help with list building and other research projects
• Be coachable and constantly participate in sales training activities to improve your knowledge, skills and performance.
• Support Head of Marketing in other areas business as required.

• Kick off the morning with coffee and a team stand-up, where you share what you’re working on and get to know how everyone is tracking.
• Meet with the Digital Marketing Manager to discuss next quarters' account-based marketing campaigns.
• Meet with the sales executive to discuss and iterate on improving the sales process on a monthly basis.
• Grab a coffee and spend the afternoon calling all the attendees from the conference we attended last week.
• Setup A/B testing of emails using HubSpot email sequences tool to nurture cold prospects into warm leads and book a meeting.
• Brainstorm creative ideas to drive attendee engagement at our conference stands with the wider marketing team.
• Presenting a monthly report on the performance and learnings of our outreach activities.
• Spend an afternoon reaching out to all the conference organisers across Australasia and complete a detailed spreadsheet on a variety of variables about all health and safety conferences to help us shortlist.
• Take a quick lunchtime exercise break at the Basque Park close to the office.
• Grab a quick coffee from our office machine, and a snack from one of the great nearby food joints. It’s time to refuel!

What you’ll bring with you

• A strong sales aptitude and fundamental understanding of the sales process.
• Minimum 2 years of outbound sales experience.
• B2B Saas experience
• Superior communication (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills.
• Possess a strong phone presence and ability to articulate a value proposition.
• Organized, reliable and consistent at following up on action items.
• Comfortable & confident engaging with Health & Safety practitioners across a variety of sectors.
• Keen situational awareness during all potential customer interactions.
• Highly inquisitive and persistent nature.
• High energy towards achieving results and a positive attitude.
• Prior experience using CRMs (especially) is desired but not required.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.
• The ability to be comfortable being uncomfortable and are always looking for ways to learn, grow, and excel.
• Are highly motivated with a strong work ethic and high energy approach.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Believes in the importance of health & safety at the workplace.
