Head of Finance

Reporting directly into the CEO, the Head of Finance is responsible for developing and executing all aspects of the day-to-day finance functions of Hnry, including financial planning, variance analysis, financial reporting, AR & AP and payroll review and approval. You will have strong accounting, collaboration and communication skills, with prior experience in scaling financial infrastructures as well as experience of the growth phases of venture capital-backed business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing insightful and trusted advice to the CEO, COO and Leadership Team on both financial and broad-based business issues related to the overall performance of the Company.
  • Overseeing all things accounting across the group companies, including monthly financial closes, general ledger entries, collections, billing, AR/AP, expense reports, Payroll
  • Serving as a key member of the Leadership Team, providing input to peers regarding the financial implications of all major business decisions, as well as strategic input in shaping the Company’s business objectives.
  • Playing a role in preparing for and securing financial funding in collaboration with the CEO and Chief of Staff, including investor readiness, capital transaction support, meeting with and presenting to prospective investors.
  • Establishing a solid financial foundation with appropriate systems that will allow the business to grow effectively over the coming years.
  • Coaching and develop the financial capability of the Leadership Team and wider business as applicable to their roles.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction and systems enhancement.
  • Managing external relationships with key financial bodies and maintain compliance with all relevant tax regulations and legislation (e.g. Payroll Tax, Accident Compensation Corporation)
  • Managing the bookkeeping, payroll and employee benefit functions
  • Providing monthly financial statements for the group companies
  • Review and submission of BAS/GST returns across the group companies
  • Forecasting and modelling expansion prospects; analysing organisation operations.
  • Helping determine and report on KPIs, both internally and to shareholders
  • Managing the business forecast, and assisting the Leadership Team with analysing business metrics as part of monthly Business Performance meetings
  • Co-ordination and collaboration with external parties such as company accountants, auditors and bookkeeping services
  • Annual budget preparation, and quarterly re-forecast of annual budget.
  • Performing ASIC and Companies Office lodgements, and keeping up with all other relevant government lodgements, grant submissions and status reports on behalf of the Company

You will:
  • Be a current financial professional with 5+ years of financial leadership roles.
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business (CPA and/or CMA preferred).
  • Have a background in growing tech or SaaS businesses.
  • Be a team player with strong communication, customer service, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Have the ability to prioritise and work proactively and independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Have familiarity with software revenue recognition, metrics, and best practices.
  • Have the ability to develop and implement systems, tools, and processes increasing business clarity.
  • Have prior experience within a company that is backed by Private Equity investors and/or Venture Capital.
  • Be well-organised and able to manage & prioritise several initiatives concurrently
  • Be able to bring your own ideas to the table, be driven and motivated to hit goals, and have the skills to make those ideas a reality
  • Have excellent written communication and collaboration skills — we work together and succeed as a team
