About the Role
 
As Assistant Accountant, you'll be a key member of our Financial Accounting team and work to ensure the integrity and completeness of financial records, playing a key role in month end processes. Collaborating closely with the team, you'll be responsible for accounting activities such as processing month end journal entries in accordance with the monthly timetable, as well as reconciling balance sheet accounts.
 
Please note, this is a 12 month fixed term contract.
 
What you'll be doing
      • Month End Processes:
      • Bank & payment platform posting and reconciliations 
      • Inter-company postings and reconciliations
      • Processing of other month end journals
      • Balance sheet general ledger reconciliations
      • Assist with monthly reporting processes, including variance analysis 
      • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register and FA reconciliations
      • Completion of all month end tasks in accordance with the monthly timetable.
 
      • Indirect Taxes
      • Calculation, lodgement and payment of indirect tax liabilities for jurisdictions worldwide
      • AU GST (BAS) preparation and submission
      • Reconciliation of indirect tax liability accounts
      • Work closely with the Tax team to ensure our tax compliance requirements are being met.
 
      • Author Payments
      • Calculation and coordination of author payments including collaboration with the business
      • Coordinating author payment approval requests and creation of payments requests
      • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure our authors are paid accurately and in a timely manner.
 
      • Purchase Requisitions
      • Analysing the General ledger coding when the purchase requisitions(PR) arrives for approval
      • Timely approval of all the PR’s
      • Communicating with the business user (requesting change of coding) where necessary
      • Processing accounting entries related to PRs, eg. recoding, prepayments etc.
 
    • Other Tasks & Activites
    • Supporting all year end activities, including collating information for external audit
    • Preparation of ABS surveys as needed
    • Prepare monthly cash report
    • Supporting other areas of the Financial Control team as needed, including payroll and Accounts Payable/Receivable
    • Ad hoc analysis and reporting for finance team & wider business
    • Assist with implementation of new ERP system as directed
    • Other financial projects as needed.
About You
    • Commercial experience in an accounting / junior accounting role
    • A solid technical knowledge, for example strong numeracy skills, confident with Excel, and a level of understanding of a medium to large ERP system would be beneficial
    • Comfortable working with large volumes of transactional data
    • Exceptional problem solving abilities
    • Adaptable, flexible and able to deal with change
    • Works effectively and collaboratively with the team to achieve group goals
    • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to a high level of accuracy
    • Full or partial completion of a professional accounting qualification (e.g. CA/CPA), or interest in commencing studies in this area would be beneficial
