This role

This role will be responsible for a whole process of data processing from collecting to transforming the data for our clients. It requires comprehensive data science, data engineering, and business knowledge. Data in the automotive industry is scattered around the world in a variety of complex formats, and the fun part is in unifying these data into a single format that drives our clients' business.

What will you do
  • Understanding Customers’ Needs. The data processing journey begins with the needs of the customer. To determine the steps to take and the direction to go, it is necessary to understand the customer's business and requirements to some extent.

  • Data Collection. To meet customer requests, data should be sought and collected from the Internet.

  • Data Cleaning. In the case of non-organized data, clean it to make it easier to Transform.

  • Data Transformation. Converts data in various formats to standard data as we define it or as the customer requires.

  • Data Analysis. Data analysis is important to understand comprehensive customer needs, make progress in data processing, and answer questions about customer data.

  • Reporting. Databases are not easy for everyone to handle. Therefore, data must be visualized and reported based on requests.

Your skills
  • (Preferred) Python. Creating general-purpose data science tools, processing large data sets, and splitting and merging data are primarily done in Python.

  • (Preferred) SQL. SQL is essential for understanding database structure, extracting needed information, and performing analysis.

  • (Preferred) Fast spreadsheet manipulation. The data we deal with is often unstructured. Cleaning them and transforming them can be much faster using Excel or Google sheets than Python if you are familiar with them.

  • Linux and Git. As data science tools become more sophisticated, the code runs exclusively within the Linux environment. Also, many useful tools are stored in Git.

  • Knowledge about cars and the automotive industry. Automotive data is complex and has many components. If you have knowledge of automobiles and the automotive industry, it doesn't get any better than that.

Benefits
  • Competitive base salary plus equity. Even though we’re a small startup, we offer competitive salaries and great equity.

  • Parental leave and flexible return to work. After returning to work, primary carers can work 4-day weeks for 100% of their pay for the first twelve weeks. For secondary carers, we offer 10 days of leave at full pay.

  • Flexible working hours. We’re office-first, but are flexible with hours and working from home when you need to.

  • A brand new architecturally designed office in Christchurch CBD. With free snacks, drinks on tap, two different coffee machines, social areas, and one of the best cafes in Christchurch 50m away.

  • Monthly team lunches to celebrate our wins and enjoy each other's company outside the office.
