What we’re looking for:
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Product Owner to join our growing team. This role can be based anywhere in New Zealand.
As a key member of the Product team at Flux (focused on delivering software development projects and smaller pieces of work throughout their lifecycle that drive creating value for the client as well as for Flux) you will:
- Make your client and Flux successful though maximising the outcome and value add of your projects and smaller pieces of work
- Become an expert in your area of the product and global energy retail, and share your knowledge openly and generously
- Work closely with Product Managers and broader product team to articulate the product goals and ensure they align with the Product Strategy and Company Strategy
- Work in partnership with Researchers, Architects and Developers
- Be passionate about product practice, constantly growing and developing your product leadership skills
- Contribute to the overall Flux portfolio of work by highlighting opportunities and trade offs regarding portfolio priorities
- Role-model Flux values, behaviours and entrepreneurial mindset to seize opportunities or remove hurdles creatively and systematically
Key Responsibilities:
- Own product Stewardship: Understand, own and communicate (written and verbal) client expectations, flux product value adds, the nature of work, as well as the inherent complexity and risk of delivery
- Be forward-looking, work hypothesis based, use quantitative and qualitative data to verify your assumptions with success measures and consequently adapt the way forward in everything you do:
- Guide the team to understand the ‘why’ of the work
- Create stories and refine epics ready for your team(s)
- Define sprint goals to determine the value increment to be delivered
- Prepare, and set direction on Project planning/prioritisation, review and retrospective sessions, as well as other exchanges needed to stay on track
- Be a servant leader to the delivery teams you work with
- Prioritise backlogs, help scope the work and guide the definition of acceptance criteria
- Constantly ensure the work is delivering value to the product goals and make day-to-day product decisions to achieve this
- Identify, quantify and manage risks and drive towards their mitigation and prevention
- Steer adaptations in scope, timeline or budget through creating transparency, identifying alternative solution options incl. their tradeoffs and take decisions or drive stakeholders to decision making where needed
- Report on product performance covering status, strategic opportunities, needed decisions and support
- Give frequent product demos with internal and external stakeholders
- Support product launches including working with product marketing, customer success, and other team members to craft the user guide and value story for clients and prospects
- Communicate and collaborate proactive, outcome oriented and appreciative with external and internal stakeholders across the business
- Keep challenging yourself and others to deliver the best possible result
What you’ll bring:
- Significant work experience as a Product Owner (or in a closely related role) in an Agile Software Development in either corporate environment or with corporate client base
- Strong understanding of Agile principles, practices and tools, relevant to software development
- Conversant in software development with a solid understanding of SaaS best-practice, ideally with some hands-on experiences in Software development
- Affinity to understand technical problems and web technologies
- Ability to quickly navigate between the high level strategic perspective and diving into details to a problem resolved
- High degree of conceptual, analytical and people skills
- Leadership and conflict resolution skills
- Collaborative problem solver, willing to roll up sleeves and get stuck in
- Quick to comprehend and identify what is important paired with attention to detail and an eye for quality
- Ambitious, will to move forward, make a difference and have impact
- Capacity to manage stress situations and ability to multitask
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Energy Industry experience preferred
